Robert Camacho, 81 of Mound Valley, KS passed away Friday, June 17th 2016, at Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha, KS.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23rd 2016, 2:00 pm at Potts Chapel in Independence KS, with Father Steve Thapwa officiating. A private family burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Liberty KS.
Robert Camacho was born December 12th 1934, the son of Melecio and Juana (Alcantai) Camacho of Chicago Ill. He attended schools there and graduated in 1952. After graduation, Robert enlisted into the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Lopez in 1957.
Robert worked for Lehigh Cement Plant for 25 years before retiring. He also received his Pilot's license while living in Liberty KS. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and was an avid fisherman. He attended the All Saints Catholic Church in Liberty KS.
Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Camacho (Sheryl) of Independence KS, and Richard Camacho (Veronica) of Cleveland, TX, and five daughters, Glenda Camacho of Omaha NE, Kim Hedrick (Bo) of Mound Valley KS, Donna Sill (Doug) of Acworth GA, Diane Butler (Mike) of Huntsville AL, and Janice Lankford (David) of Frisco TX. He is also survived by three brothers Freddy Camacho, Butch Camacho, and Mel Camacho, and three sisters, Ramona Ybarra, Mercedes Benoit, and Helen Gonzalez. He had 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, and his wife Mary Lou.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or to the Independence High School Wresting Program, as Robert loved watching his grandchildren wrestle.
