Richard Brown, 64, of Caney, Kansas, formerly of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away November 10, 2014,
at his home in Caney.
Richard Derrell Brown was born December 30, 1949, in McComb, Mississippi, the 2nd of two children to Emmett Allen
Brown and Annie Dora Sanders Brown.
The family moved to Garnett Kansas when he was 11, and Richard graduated high school from Garnett High School.
He attended junior college in Iola Kansas.
He enjoyed ham radio, guns, and teaching gun safety. He worked for the American Red Cross in many disasters, natural and manmade, coasttocoast, to include Ground Zero of 911 New York City in 2001.
He was a member of Sons of American Legion, Post 105, Bartlesville, OK, where he served as Commander, and Bartlesville Ham Radio Club serving as President.
To say that Richard Brown loved to help others would be an understatement. He was muchloved and will be missed by all those whom he has helped and known over the years.
Blessed by his memory are his surviving loved ones: brother Dave Brown and wife Karen of San Diego, CA, sister Iris Armstrong of Overland Park, KS, nephews and niece David, Ryan, Susie, Mark, Peter, and Tim, adopted daughter Leslie Price Seth, Joshua, and Cheryl Ann of Pascagoula, MS multiple grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepparents, brother William James Lennon, and brotherinlaw Denis Armstrong.
Cremation has taken place and family services will be scheduled at a later date. Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
