Raymond Albert Weber, age 93, of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, January 07, 2012 at his home in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Mount Hope Cemetery with Military Honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Avenue of Flags Project and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Raymond was born December 14, 1918 at Chelsea, Kansas, the son of George Erby Weber and Mamie McLam Weber. He graduated from Longton High School in 1937. After schooling he worked in farming before joining the United States Army in 1941. Raymond was a surgical technician with the 159th Infantry Medical Detachment and served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. Raymond worked for James Mtg., Tweeties Sinclair, and retired from Bruest Industries in 1984 after 29 years. Raymond was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and camping. On February 23, 1946 at Independence, Kansas he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Banning. Betty preceded him in death in 2009. Survivors include three daughters, Ragena and husband Bill Andres of Independence, Kansas Barbara and husband John Elliott of Atlanta, Georgia and Jana Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Dr. Roy Weber, four sisters and one brother.
