Ralph K. Perkins, 84, of Caney, Kansas passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel of Caney. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Caney United Methodist Church and may be left at Potts Chapel of Caney. Ralph K. Perkins was born September 30, 1926 at Joplin, Missouri the son of Leroy Perkins and Ethel Fawcett Perkins. He grew up in Coffeyville and attended schools in Coffeyville. After his schooling he was in the Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Shipfitter 3rd Class V6. On March 23, 1947 at Caney, Kansas he was united in marriage to Wilma Lou Perkins and she preceded him in death June 16, 2011. He worked as a molder for Pressure Cast in Coffeyville, Kansas and in 1963 helped start Kansas Match Plate Company in Caney. He was a carpenter by trade and in 1976 he became owner operator of Shad Company. He lived in the Caney area most of his life and was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Caney United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Survivors include two sons, David Lee Perkins and his wife Sherry of Kernersville, North Carolina, Donald Lynn Perkins and his wife Sherry of Caney, Kansas, one daughter, Deborah Lue Sharpe and her husband Bill of Coffeyville, Kansas, one sister Betty Meek of Topeka, Kansas, eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chance Perkins. Celebration of Life Services for Ralph and Wilma Perkins will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, at the Caney United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Clemence, officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Potts Chapel of Caney.
