Rachel Hoad

Rachel Ellen Hoad, 88, of Newport News, formerly of Caney, Kansas died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Hoad was born May 30, 1923 in Oklahoma, daughter of the late Ernest and Keziah Stoneking Chidester. Her memberships included Caney United Methodist Church, and in her later years, Seaford Church of Christ, and was a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and bowling. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gordon Robert Hoad. Survivors include two devoted sons, David Lee Hoad Ruth of Yorktown and Danny R. Hoad Karen of Newport News four grandchildren, Delaina McVay, Darrin Hoad, Douglas Deach and Steven Deach and eight greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Seaford Church of Christ Sunday, July 24, 2011 at pm with Minister Joe Parrish officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Fairview Cemetery Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas.
