On March 20th 2017 at 4:59am God sent a special angel to bring a special Lady Phyllis L Smith Home to Him, Phyllis L Smith 70 of Independence KS, passed away at the Cherryvale Nursing & Rehab in Cherryvale KS, with her family at her side.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Dr. Wayne Norton and Bret Deitrick officiating.
Phyllis L (Jenkins) Smith was born April 28, 1946 in Bland MO, the daughter of James Mack and Eda May (Lockhart) Jenkins, Phyllis lived in Owensville MO, before moving to Independence KS, in 1973, on May 24, 1996 Phyllis was united in marriage to Orlin Smith in Bartlesville OK, and they made their home in Independence KS, the past 21 years.
Phyllis worked in several restaurants as a waitress and owned her own restaurant with her husband Orlin. Phyllis loved to cook and loved to clean and rearrange her house and loved to take care of her family at times when they were not feeling good, but most of all she loved to spend lots of time with her loving family just being with them, Phyllis loved to collect glass Angels.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Orlin of the home and seven sons Larry Don Medlock Jr and wife Becky of Cherryvale KS, Curtis Medlock and John of San Diego CA, Todd Medlock and wife Toni of Cherryvale KS, Bradley Medlock and wife Christi of Independence KS, Alan Smith and wife Cindy of Independence KS, Wes Smith of Independence KS, and Dusty Smith and wife Stephanie of Parkville MO, three daughters Sherrica (Rica) Medlock of Independence KS, Taniena Whittley and Rodney Vigil of Cherryvale KS, and Alicia Smart and husband Andy of Coffeyville KS. One brother Raney Jenkins of Jefferson City MO, and three sisters Ruth Carwille of Owensville MO, Elenore McCarter of Ashville NC, and Janna Jenkins of Columbia MO, and 21 Grand Children and 1 Great Grandchild and two Great Grandchildren on the way.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters.
