Phyllis “Jean” Hutchison, 89, of Independence, went to be with Jesus Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
A graveside service will be held under the direction of Potts Chapel, Friday, September 1, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.
Jean was born October 24, 1933, in Webb City, Oklahoma, to Roy and Mabel Taylor. She grew up in Oklahoma and California.
Jean was united in marriage to Wally Hutchison and the couple made their home in the Independence area. Together they raised eight children and made an impact on so many more. Jean enjoyed working side by side with her husband as a bookkeeper for his construction business, and later as owners of Gazebo Stained Glass. She was also a caregiver to many in the community.
Jean attended LifePoint Church in Coffeyville, KS. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and is now in His presence for eternity.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wally; son Larry Hutchison; infant grandson James Matthew Hutchison; daughter-in-law Betty Hutchison; son-in-law Tom McPheeters; son-in-law Steve Cobb; daughter-in-law Jenny Hutchison; her parents, Roy and Mabel Taylor and three brothers, Merle Taylor, Bill Taylor, and Chuck Taylor.
Left to cherish her memory are: five daughters; Rhea McPheeters of Independence, KS, Sheryl Cobb and Roger LeBlanc of Goodyear, AZ, Angela and James Guse of Benton, LA, Ruth and Greg Bechtle of Independence, KS, Donna and Todd Corrigan of Exeland, WI; two sons, Carl and Joyce Scott of Independence, KS and Jeffery and Julie Hutchison of Coffeyville, KS; one sister, Patricia Cogburn; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
