Phillip Farris

Phillip Phil Dean Farris,64, of Independence died Sunday at the St. Johns Continuous Care Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Potts Chapel Caney with the Reverend Darren Melton of the First Church of the Nazarene, Independence, Kansas officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Shawnee Cemetery, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Phillip was born October 20, 1947 in Neodesha, Kansas the son of George and Mabel K. Carpenter Farris. He grew up in the Independence area attending and graduating from the Altamont School System. In 1964 Phillip was united in Marriage to Shirley Boyle and they made their home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Shirley Preceded Phillip in death. Phillip was a civil service air craft mechanic at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and retired after 31 plus years of service. He was a member of the American Legion post 139 in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include a daughter Rebecca and husband Nathan Parker of Caney, Ks., two step daughters Kathy Lantz of Okla., one step son Danny Lantz of Okla., four brothers Charles Farris and Bill Farris of Ks., Mike Farris and Ray Farris of Okla., three sisters Nancy Buchberg of Mo., Kathy Farris and Jeanie Tracewell of Okla., three grand children.
