It is with bittersweet feelings, we announce the passing of Peggy Ann Tucker, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Cherryvale, Kansas. Peggy was born on November 20, 1934, in Broadus, Montana, a place where her journey began, and where the seeds of her abundant love for family and community were first sown.
Peggy lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that made her home a haven for all who knew her. She never met a stranger-only friends waiting to be welcomed into her warm embrace. A devoted mother, she created memories that her daughters, along with her son, will cherish forever. Peggy's creativity shone brightly in the beautiful dresses she crafted for her daughters, a passion that even led to a commission to create clothing in Arizona. Her hands not only stitched fabric, but also wove the threads of a joyful family life. They tended her garden as well, where she crafted beautiful, love-filled meals, rarely needing anything from the store.
Known affectionately as the "neighborhood mom," Peggy hosted countless parties that transformed ordinary days into festive celebrations. Her creativity extended to creating intricate Halloween mazes that delighted the neighborhood children, igniting their imaginations and forging lifelong memories. Throughout her life, she was a pioneer in her community, helping to build the Ben Franklin Store alongside her husband, brother in-law and sister in-law, laying the foundation brick by brick, a testament to her tenacity and spirit.
A cheerleader in high school who proudly supported her four brothers on the football field, Peggy continued to nurture the bonds of community by hosting after parties for her children's friends. The football players, eager to express their gratitude, humorously left dollar bills around her home, knowing her heart was far richer than mere money could signify.
Peggy's unwavering faith found expression in her active participation in church activities, including hosting workers for Vacation Bible School. Her passion for arts and crafts was unmatched; from painting to crochet, ceramics to beadwork, she was a true craftsman. Peggy's legacy lives on as she lovingly passed her artistic talents to her grandchildren, inspiring them to explore their own creativity.
Her adventurous and mischievous spirit was shared with her late husband, Don, as they traveled together in their motorhome, discovering the beauty of every state they visited. In the serene landscapes of Colorado, Peggy found joy in watching wildlife, embodying the wonder of nature.
In her life, Peggy was a radiant example of the warmth and wisdom of Proverbs 31. She nurtured, inspired, and uplifted everyone around her, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts she touched.
A celebration of life service will be held on March 31, 2026, at 10:30 AM to remember Peggy's incredible life, held at the Church of Christ in Independence, Kansas.
In the spirit of Peggy, we invite all who knew and loved her to gather, share stories, and reflect on the joy she brought into our lives. Her laughter and love will echo in our hearts forever.
Peggy's memories will live through her daughters, Donna (Rick) Kiister of Cherryvale, Kansas, Debra Stowe of Independence, Kansas, her son, Darrell (Kimberly) Tucker of Stephenville, Texas, her brothers, Phillip Clark of Berwick, Pennsylvania, Michael Clark of Sallisaw, OK, her fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ray Tucker, her parents, Earnest and Anna Clark, her sisters, Marie Hill and Nancy Miner, her brothers, Allen Clark, Neil Clark, Gerald "Jerry" Clark, and John "Andy" Clark, her granddaughter Christine Sarnow, her daughter, Diana Nordin, and her grandson, Dennis Scoggins.
Memorial contributions in honor of Peggy Ann Tucker may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Church of Christ in Independence, Kansas.
