Paula Anita Pitts (nee: Smith), 92 of St. Peters, MO died on March 26, 2026.
Paula (Anita) was born in McAlester, OK, and graduated from Independence High School in Kansas. She completed classes at Independence Community College and computer programming classes at Johnson County Community College. She continued to be a lifelong learner.
Paula Anita and Donald Pitts were married on August 23, 1953, and remained together for 54 years. They had two daughters together, Lisa and Ronda.
Paula Anita worked as a computer programmer for Patrons Mutual Insurance for 15 years. She was very involved with the church through the years and taught many Sunday school classes for both children and adults. Paula Anita had a great talent for sewing and made many of her daughters’ clothes as well as many other projects. She was also a fabulous cook and made meals and legendary pies for many people. No one left her house hungry.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend to many. Her kindness and thoughtfulness of others was inspirational and will long be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Paula Anita is survived by her daughter, Ronda (Brian) Wieschhaus; her grandchildren Ryan (Lanette) Wieschhaus and Justin Wieschhaus.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Pitts, parents Ted Smith and Emma Dyer and her daughter Lisa Pitts.
A graveside service will take place on June 15th, 2026, at 11am, at the Oak Hill cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. The service will be followed by a celebration of life at Lone Cherry Church in Havana, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Judes Children’s Hospital or Lone Cherry church would be appreciated.
