Paul “Wayne” Boyle Jr., 83, of Liberty, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by family.
Wayne was born on July 10, 1942, to the late Paul Wayne Boyle Sr. and Wilma Jean (Wilson) Boyle.
Wayne married Mary Jane Sanders on June 22, 1960, and together they shared two daughters, Connie and Lori. Though their marriage later ended, they remained connected through the family they built together.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1968. He loved sharing stories from his years of service with anyone willing to listen and carried great pride in his time in the military throughout his life.
Alongside his dear friend, Dale Suits, Wayne helped found Neodesha Plastics before later selling the business. He then worked for Prestige Cabinets in Neodesha, Kansas. He later contracted his services to design and open manufacturing plants across the United States and Canada.
On December 28, 1977, Wayne married Jackie Meriweather. He loved her children, Steve, Vicki, and Kyra, as his own. Though their marriage later ended, Wayne and Jackie remained dear friends until his passing.
Wayne spent many years as a heavy-haul truck driver and never tired of sharing stories from the road, including proudly recounting his special clearance to haul freight to the White House. Following retirement, he continued serving his community as a substitute teacher and school bus driver.
An avid fisherman, Wayne treasured time spent at his home on Grand Lake, where he welcomed family and friends for overnight fishing trips, laughter-filled gatherings, and fish fries made from the day’s catch.
A man of many talents, Wayne especially loved teaching his grandchildren, passing along practical skills, stories, and lessons learned throughout his life.
In his final years, Wayne made his home on his daughter’s ranch, where he found joy in watching the animals, sitting outdoors in the country air, fishing, and spending time watching his great-grandchildren play.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Connie Greer of Independence, Kansas, and Lori (Keith Hofstrom) Boyle of Liberty, Kansas; stepchildren, Steve (Vickie) Doherty of Independence, Kansas, Vicki (Mike) Cranor of Independence, Kansas, and Kyra (Rick) Mott of Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Alysha (Brad) Boggs of Andover, Kansas, Stevie (Katie) Greer of Edna, Kansas, Heather (Matt) Boss of Cherryvale, Kansas, Hilary Chapman of Independence, Kansas, Dalton (Grace) Mott of Overland Park, Kansas, Hayleigh (Chad) Stanford of Liberty, Kansas, and Kirbie (Donnovan) Hutchinson of Neodesha, Kansas; step-grandchildren; Brandon Doherty, Stevie Jo Doherty, Amber (Rod) Little, Jordan (Jamie) Tucker, Cole Cranor; great-grandchildren, Jaiden (Dylan) Kelly, Aston Evans, Addyson Boss, Ethan Suppes, Parker Allen, Gentry Boss, Flint Boss, Quinnlyn Suppes, Jack Stanford, Hazel Mott, Greyleigh Stanford, Evie Boggs, and Preslee Greer; former spouses, Mary Passauer of Liberty, Kansas, and Jackie Boyle of Independence, Kansas; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
