Pattie Sue May, age 62 of Independence, Kansas passed away, Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri.
Private Family Service will be held under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Friends may leave online condolences at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society, Mental Health of America, AWOL or the Church of the Brethren in Independence, Kansas.
Pattie was born May 5, 1954 to Hershel & Betty Stephens in Harrison, Arkansas. She graduated from Caney Valley High School and then Pittsburg State University. Pattie taught elementary school in the Independence School District for nearly 20 years.
On May 1, 2014 Pattie married David May in Key West, Florida. Pattie was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Some of her most cherished memories included fishing with her father and many happy years raising Miniature Schnauzers with her mom.
Survivors include her husband David of the home; son Matt (Amanda) Hoover of Independence; daughter Erica Hoover of Olathe, Kansas; and two grandchildren. Her mother Betty Stephens of Missouri; three step children Donna Wisho of Guthrie, Oklahoma, David May of Sioux City, Iowa, and Paul Daniel of Omaha, Nebraska.
