Patsy Darden

Patsy M. Darden, age 60, of Independence, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 13, 2009, at Potts Chapel of Independence, with Pastor Joe Davolt and Pastor Tom Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2009, with family receiving friends from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Independence Bible School or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left with the funeral home. Patsy was born on September 20, 1948, in California, to Tom and Helen Duby Smith. She moved to Independence in December of 1988. Patsy worked in home health care and was employed by SKIL and Respite for 20 years. Patsy was a single mother who was devoted to God. She made whatever sacrifices she had to in order for her children to attend the Independence Bible School. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She attended church at the Bible Holiness and Weslyan Holiness Alliance. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Smith, Independence; a son, Brian Darden, Independence; two sisters, Bobbie Mahlam, Independence, and Debbie Haskins, Oregon; two brothers, Ken Smith, Paradise, California, and Jim Smith, Texas; ten nieces and nephews; two grandsons, Brett and Payton; and two granddaughters, Brooke and Lindsey.
