Patricia Colleen Robbinson
Patricia Robbinson, age 90, of Independence, passed away on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, at Eagle Estates in Independence, Kansas. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lester Atkisson and Ina (Paxton) Atkisson on September 22, 1931. Potts Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family will greet friends for the visitation at Potts Chapel on Tuesday, November 9th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with the Reciting of the Rosary immediately following the visitation at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 10th at 10:00am at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Father Zachary Pinaire officiating.
Patricia grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and graduated from College High School in Bartlesville. She attended Bartlesville Business College before being employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in 1950. She worked for Phillips for ten years. On February 6, 1951, she married Joseph Robbinson. They were later divorced.
She moved to Independence in 1961, where she was employed by Sinclair Pipeline Company from 1961 to 1963. After taking time off to spend with her children, she was employed by Mercy Hospital in 1971 and retired from Mercy after 26 years. At the time of her retirement, she was the Executive Assistant to the C.E.O.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Jane Phillips Auxiliary, Mercy Associates, and St. Anne’s Quilters. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and reading, but most of all, she enjoyed her great granddaughters, Ryleigh, Audrey, Charley, Amanda, Jessica, Emily and Camryn, and her great grandson, Kobey, and one great-great grandson expected in March of 2022.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, both siblings, and her son, Bobby. She is survived by one son, Michael Robbinson and his wife, Carol of Lenexa, one daughter, Karen Leaman of Neodesha, three grandchildren, Troy Robbinson (DeSoto), Lindsey Wilson and husband, Kasey (Edna), Chelsea King and wife, Lauren of (Lakewood, CO), and two nephews and two nieces, plus several great nephews and nieces.
