Patricia ‘Patty' Weingart Kendrick, 76, of Independence passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at her home in Independence.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life services will be held at the First Christian Church in Independence Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:00 am with the Pastor Mark Lyon. officiating under the direction of Potts Chapel. There will be no graveside service.
A memorial has been established for Open Arms Ministry, a local organization that provides meals and clothing to those in need.
Patricia Weingart Kendrick was born on June 17, 1942 in Dearing, Kansas. She was the daughter of Charles and Mahalia Mae (Jackson) Weingart. Patty married James Riley Fitzpatrick and they were later divorced.
On June 17, 1980 she was united in marriage to Donald Kendrick, Sr., in Las Vegas, Nevada. In her early career, Patty was a beautician, and later managed the finances for Kendrick family businesses. Patty was passionate about maintaining her home, koi pond, and many flower beds. Patty was a member and former deacon at the First Christian Church in Independence.
Patty was survived by one stepson, Bud Kendrick; three grandchildren, Travis (Tonya) Kendrick of Independence, Katy (David) Loganbill of Tulsa, and Laura (Justin) Engels of Lawrence; and three great-grandchildren, Bryce and Lilliana Kendrick, of Independence, and Thomas Loganbill, of Tulsa.
Preceding her in death were her son, Jim Fitzpatrick; her husband, Don Kendrick, Sr.; her stepson, Bradley Kendrick; her stepdaughter, Debra Kendrick; and three great-grandchildren.
