Norma Gerea Lookadoo Kelly, known as Granny to most, 89 years old of Montgomery County Kansas joined her loved ones in heaven on May 6, 2020. She passed peacefully in her home with her Granddaughter Lacey and great grandson Laramie caring for her.
Norma was born on December 2, 1930, raised in Buckner Baptist Orphans home in Texas. Leaving there as an adult and moved to Salinas California, residing there until 1995. Norma raised two children & two grandchildren while in Salinas. She was an intelligent & hard working woman all her life. She worked as a CPA. Her favorite places she worked over the years were Lacey’s Auto Parts in Salinas & her job as a door greeter at Walmart in Independence. She overcame more than most with strength, dignity, & grace.
Norma was a kind and loving woman to everyone she met. She was a fierce protector of her loved ones. You truly didn’t have to be blood to be her family. Norma enjoyed time with family, raising goats, sewing, reading, boating, and water skiing. Norma was one of the founding members of the Salinas Valley Boat Club. She loved road trips & was an ornery jokester.
Norma is survived by her sister Nancy Arnwine, daughter Barbara Gerea Kelly, Son in Law Bill Dias, Grandson Billy Dias & his fiancée Megan Pemberton, Granddaughter Lacey Helkenberg & her husband Brian Helkenberg, great grandchildren Farrah, Laramie, Destiny, John, James, Kim, Jason & Brandon, & 2 great great grandchildren Wyatt & Maci, dear friend Kenny Lay, as well as many other loved ones.
Norma is preceded in death by her brother James, sisters Margie, Dorothy, Betty, & Judy, her son Randy Dale, her nieces Marcia & Dana, & her parents.
No time to cry, don’t shed a tear. I am with God. In spirit I am here… I kept the faith, my spirit is light. I am at peace now, “I fought a good fight.” May you forever know that I love you all.
Honor her for all that her hands have done & let her words bring her praise at the city gates. Proverbs 31:31
In lieu of flowers please donate on Norma’s behalf to http://www.savejt.com to support TPI research to help JT Borofka fight for a long healthy happy life.
Celebration of life will be on May 30, 2020 @ 3pm at the ranch where Norma lived. There will also be a gathering in California on a later date.
