Neta McKee Phillips, age 90, of Caney, Kansas died Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Dan DeWitt officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Neta was born December 8, 1919 in Caney, Kansas to Wallace and Mabel Sims Lindsey. She graduated from the Pawhuska, Oklahoma High School in 1937. Neta then attended and graduated in 1939 from the Bartlesville Business College. In July of 1941 Neta married Ernest Mckee in St. Louis, Missouri the couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. Ernest preceded her in death in 1978. Neta worked as an optometrist assistant at Dr. Burchs office in Caney, Kansas for many years. In November of 1981 Neta married Paul Phillips and he preceded her in death in 1998. Neta was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caney, Kansas. Survivors include one daughter Marcia Fields of Caney, Kansas one son Phillip McKee of Independence, Kansas two sisters Sandra Mowrar of Mission, Texas and Linda Lavine of Claremore, Oklahoma one brother Charles Lindsey of Houston, Texas four grandchildren Michael Tatum, Christopher McKee, Patrick McKee and Jennifer Troyer three great grandchildren twins Drew and Jay Tatum and Gwendolyn Troyer. She was preceded in death by her parents one son Lonnie Ray McKee and three sisters Naomi, Wilma, and Wanda.
