Nellie "Frankie" Schlotfelt, 90, of Independence passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 14th at 2:00pm at Potts Chapel of Independence. No visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Nellie Frances Schlotfelt was born January 13, 1926 in Cherryvale, Kansas. She was the daughter of William and Monty (Clay) King. Friends knew her as "Frankie". She was raised in the Cherryvale and Independence area.
Frankie married Merlyn Schlotfelt on September 15, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri. It was a double ring ceremony along with her sister Helen and husband John Medsker. They made their home in Independence. Together they owned and operated the Whizburger Drive In for seventeen years. She loved to cook, make crafts, camp, fish and read her bible daily.
Frankie is survived by her daughters Vicki and husband Paul Gates and Debbie Cannon, thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loved ones that preceded her in death is her loving husband, daughter Connie Rolls, son Robert Roland, parents, sister Helen Medsker, brothers Charles King and Richard King, granddaughter Ashley Rolls, and two grandsons Darin and Joshua Cannon.
