Nadine Anna Lybarger, 78, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Independence passed away Friday, July 29, 2011. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Lutheran Cemetery in Independence, Kansas with the Pastor Fred Naumann of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Nadine was born January 7, 1933 in Independence, Kansas to Gerhardt and Freida Klintworth Lessman. She grew up in Independence, Kansas and graduated from the Independence High School in 1950 as valedictorian. In 1950 Nadine married Jerry Piper and the couple made their home in Arizona. The couple later divorced. Nadine worked in the Banking Industry. She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church and presently a member of the Deer Valley Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2000 Nadine married Ed Lybarger in Phoenix, Arizona. Ed preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include three children Jerry Dean Piper of Memphis, Tennessee, Cindi Edelson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Steven Piper of Phoenix, Arizona two sisters Marcella Balke of Independence, Kansas and Doloris Schmidt of Eureka Springs, Arkansas 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother.
