Millie Clark

Millie L. Clark, 66 of Independence Kansas went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. She was known as the friendly WalMart cashier. Millie fought a courageous battle with Lou Gehrigs Disease for almost 2 years. She was born at home on December 3, 1945 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter to the late Frank and Agnes Prosser and one of 9 siblings. Millie is survived by her two children: Stacey Sumpter from Newton IA, Scott Sumpter Julie from Ankeny, IA and her grandson Alex Sumpter, son of Stacey. Millie and her family experienced life to the fullest while living in several cities in Iowa, Texas and Washington state before returning to Kansas in 2005. Over the years, she worked for several law firms, banks and other financial institutions. She had been employed at WalMart for the last 10 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed watching movies and creating unique art. Visitation will be from 12noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Potts Chapel. Family will receive friends from 67p.m. Funeral services for Millie L. Clark will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Potts Chapel of Independence with Clay Bramble, officiating. Interment will be held in Liberty Cemetery. She will be greatly missed by her family and the community. We would like to thank the staff at Regal Estates for their help and support.
