Milford Johanneman

Milford A. Johanneman, age 91, of Cherryvale, Kansas formerly of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Mount Hope Cemetery with the Reverend Jeff Owen officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Hospice Care of Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Milford was born December 9, 1918 in Covington, Kentucky to Anthony and Elsie Haller Johanneman. He grew up in Covington, Kentucky and graduated from the Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky. Milford also attended OTI in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1941 Milford entered the United States Army Air Corp. and served during World War II until his honorable discharge on June 27, 1945. In 1941 Milford married Alice Noel in Salinas, California. The couple made their home in Miami, Florida. Milford worked for Florida Power and Lights for 34 years retiring in 1981. After retirement the couple moved to Independence, Kansas in 1981. The couple later moved to Cherryvale, Kansas. Alice preceded him in death. Milford was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, lifetime member of the VFW, and lifetime member of the American Legion. Survivors include two daughters Terre Ecret of Cherryvale, Kansas and Mary Lou Pearce of Gainesville, Florida one brother Paul Johanneman of Orient, Ohio five grandchildren Jeff and wife Gaby Ecret, Billy and wife Annette Ecret, Brian Pearce, Chris Pearce, and Robert and wife Regina Pearce Seven great grandchildren Sean, Sarah, Brittney, and Ryan Ecret, Luke, Hailey and Madison Pearce.
