Mildred Williams passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, in Republic Missouri. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 16th, 2021, at 10:00am at Potts Chapel. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas.
Mildred was born on March 23rd, 1939. She was the daughter of Fred and Virginia (Merchele) Powell. She grew up in North Kansas City and graduated high school in 1958. After graduation she was a seamstress for JC Penny. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Joe Williams. They traveled with the military to Florida, Cuba, Virigina and San Diego. Mildred retired from the SD Medical Federal Union in 2003.
Her and Joe moved to Independence Kansas in 2005. Mildred enjoyed quilting and all crafts. She quilted baby blankets for the fire department and quilts for the Wounded Warriors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, sisters: Lois, Betty and Linda; brothers: Don, Bill and Joe.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons: Ron and Ed Williams, sister Shirley Rusher, brother Wesley “Linn” Powell, grandchildren Kristy, Michael, Heather and Amber and 7 great grandchildren.
