Michel "Mike" Carr, Independence, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 10, 2019 beginning at 9:30am with the rosary, mass will follow. Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrew Catholic School and can be left with the funeral home. Services are entrusted with Potts Chapel of Independence.
Michel Anthony Carr was born August 25, 1940 in Paulding, Mississippi. He was the son of John and Eva (White) Carr. He grew up and graduated in LaGrange, Georgia. After high school he joined the United States Air Force. He meant the love of his life at the Barksdale Air Force Base, Amelia Raco, a fellow airman. They united in marriage on November 16, 1963 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Independence, Kansas. They celebrated 55 loving years together.
Mike enjoyed to fish, hunt and do woodworking. Most of all he loved to cheer on his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events.
Preceding him in death were his parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, two sons: Chuck Carr and Paul (Petra) Carr, daughter Christy (Chris) Newman, seven grandchildren: Lexi, Graci, and Sophia Carr, Megan and Ethan Carr, Gabrial and Devin Newman.
