Michael Sullivan

Michael Lee Sullivan, age 66, passed from this life late the evening of February 25, 2019, at Labette Health in Independence, Kansas.

Mike was born December 19, 1952 in Nevada, Missouri to Lloyd Lee Sullivan and Laura L. (Covey) Sullivan. On Christmas day, when he just six days old, the family moved to Independence, Kansas. Mike had remained in Independence his entire life.

Mike graduated from Independence High School, then attended Independence Community College. Following a stint in the U.S. Navy, he attended Labette County Junior College and became an X-Ray Technician, working in that field for several years. Mike also earned his Kansas Real Estate License, and worked in association with his brother, Wayne Sullivan, Broker-Owner of Midwest Real Estate. He then began managing property which carried over into his retirement.

Mike married Cheryl Newkirk in 1979. To this marriage, Mike's only child, Michael Wayne Sullivan was born. Mike and Cheryl were later divorced. Mike married Cindi Nelson on April 23, 1989 and Cindi survives at the home.

Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his retirement, had fun feeding and watching birds, deer, and other wildlife from his patio and arm chair at home.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Lee Sullivan, and his brother, Lloyd Wayne Sullivan.

Survivors in addition to his wife Cindi, are his son Michael Wayne Sullivan and wife, Heather of Longmont, Colorado, mother, Laura L. Sullivan of Independence, and stepson, Rob Nelson of Independence, Kansas.
