Michael Stone

Michael Lee Stone, 57, of Independence died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the St Johns Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Potts Chapel, Independence with the Mike Walker and Pastor Francis Aeschliman officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p. m. Tueaday , April 24, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at the Potts Chapel Independence. The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association or the Wesleyan Ministry and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence. Michael was born February 1, 1955 the son of Oscar and Altamae Pettit Stone in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and moved to Independence in 1998. Michael got his GED in Independence. On September 10, 2000 Michael was united in marriage to Kathy J. Bennett at the Riverside Park In Independence, Kansas and the couple made their home in Independence. Michael retired as the Fire Chief of the Neodesha, Kansas Fire Department he also worked for Colbalt Boats in Neodesha as well as Cessna Air Craft in Independence. Michael was employed for the City of Independence at the time of his death in the water department as a meter reader. Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home one son Dustin Stone Iola, Ks., two step sons Micheal Eytcheson Nebraska , Scott Eytcheson of Texas, one daughter Wendy Proctor Neodesha, Ks., one sister Shirley Stone of Independendce, Mo. And 6 grandchildren
