WILSON, 62, OF INDEPENDENCE DIED THURSDAY JULY 8, 2010, CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES WILL BE HELD THURSDAY JULY 15, 2010 AT 10:00 AM AT THE POTTS CHAPEL INDEPENDENCE WITH REVEREND STEVE BUTLER OF THE COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, OFFICIATING. CREMATION WILL FOLLOW THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE POTTS CHAPEL INDEPENDENCE. VISITATION WILL BE FROM NOON TO 7:00 PM WEDNESDAY THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS AT POTTS CHAPEL FROM 6:00 PM TO 7:00 PM. MELVIN WAS BORN JUNE 6, 1948, IN INDEPENDENCE, KANSAS , THE SON OF CLYDE AND GRACE HALE WILSON. HE ATTENDED THE INDEPENDENCE SCHOOL SYSTEM THROUGH THE 10TH GRADE. MELVIN ENTERED THE US ARMY AND WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMY RECEIVED HIS GED. MELVIN WAS A LINE WORKER FOR THE PRESTIGE CABNET COMPANY. SURVIVORS ARE ONE BROTHER GARY WILSON OF DENVER, COLO. THREE STEP DAUGHTERS BOBBY BOYE OF MISSOURI, ELAINE NAVARRO, OF ARIZONA AND CAROL CROZZER OF INDEPENDENCE,KS. HE HAS 11 GRANDCHILDREN AND 13 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
