Melody Reid

Melody G. Reid, 58, of Independence passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Potts Chapel Independence with Pastor Gerald Eytcheson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence under the direction of the Potts Chapel Independence.
A book signing will be held from 10:00 a. m. to 6:30 p. m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Potts Chapel Independence.
Melody was born September 12, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Floyd Peterson and mother Janice Hoffman. She grew up in Independence and attended and graduated from the Independence school system.
On June 21, 1974 Melody Jones was united in marriage to Ron Reid and the couple made their home in Independence. Ron survives at the home.
Melody loved children and was a child care provider.
Survivors include her husband Ron of the home, her mother Janice Friley of Coffeyville, Ks., one son Brian Reid and wife Michele of Manhattan, Ks., one brother Gary Jones of Oklahoma, one sister Sharla Friley of Iowa and five grandchildren; Lauryn ,Lindsey, Rylee, Ava and Clay.
