McKinley Pouncil, age 76 of Independence, Kansas died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Flint Michigan. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. McKinley was born January 29, 1932 in Boyington, Oklahoma to Floyd and Ruby Netherland Pouncil. He grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and attended schools there. On February 26, 1948 McKinley entered the United States Army serving in Korea until his honorable discharge on January 18, 1952. McKinley worked as a machinist for General Motors in Flint, Michigan until his retirement in 1981. He then moved to Independence, Kansas. On August 7, 1981 McKinley married Connie Adams in Independence, Kansas where they made their home. McKinley was president for the NWACP for 6 years, member of the American Legion and the St. Johns Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Connie of the home; three daughters Dianna Robinson of Flint, Michigan, Loucinda Pouncil and Desiree Pouncil Coates both of Independence, Kansas; two sons LaMont Pouncil of Kansas City, Missouri and McKinley Pouncil Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers Emmott Pouncil of Los Angeles, California and Floyd Pouncil Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters Bobbie Simmons of Flint, Michigan, Novella Pouncil Hardy and Susie Pouncil Johnson both of Kansas City, Missouri; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
