Mary Ellen Woods

February 28, 1944 — October 20, 2024

Mary Ellen (Keath) Woods, loving mom, grandma, and great granny passed away October 20, 2024, at Eagle Estates, Independence, KS after a battle with dementia. Even during her struggles with this terrible disease, she maintained her funny and sometimes ornery personality.

Mary was born to Norman and Cynthia on February 28, 1944, in Elk City, KS. She attended school in Elk City.

In July 1961 Mary was united in marriage to Michael A. Hight. From their union, were two children, Mark Allen and Michelle Marie.

In July 1977 Mary was united in marriage to Richard p. Woods. From their union was one son, her "baby" Tanner Ray who she always proclaimed she found at a gas station.

Mary was a dedicated and hard-working employee at Automotive Control Corporation/ Standard Motor Products for 30+ years. She was proud of her career starting out on the production line and retired as an expeditor. After retirement she enjoyed reading, watching games shows, and working in her yard.

Those left to cherish memories are her children Mark Hight, Michelle Shaffer, and Tanner Woods. Her daughters-in-law Alicia Hight, and Leslie Woods, and her "favorite son-in-law" Russell Shaffer. Mary had seven grandchildren Brian Hight (Ryan), Chelsea Shaffer, Leslie Wright (Jeremy), Jacoby Shaffer (dog Karl), Evian Woods, Odin Woods, and Adie Jo Woods whom she loved dearly and had no problem keeping them in line especially when decorating Christmas cookies. She was proud to be called "Granny" by her great grandchildren Anna, Baylee, and Dallas Shaffer, Preston, Jace, Dayton, Timothy, Sebastian, and Bentley Linthicum as well as Baby Compton who is due to make an apperance in March. One great grandson, Michael Wright. Brothers Bill Keath and Jim (Janice) Keath and one sister Kay Sellers. And we cannot forget special companion "George".

Mary will be greeted in heaven by her mother and daddy, her husband Richard (Rick), mother-in-law Jo Jones, sisters Margaret, Marilyn, Nancy, and brother Leland.

Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Animals with Our Love. (AWOL)
