Mary Phillips

Mary Pauline Smith Phillips, age 96, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at John Knox Care Center, Lee's Summit, MO.

Her graveside services will be Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS, Bishop Hogge from the Independence Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will preside.

Mary Pauline was born December 6, 1920 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Delbert Franklin and Mary Belle (Updike) Smith. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1938. On April 25, 1954 she was united in marriage to Hugh William Phillips who preceded her in death in 1999. Mary Pauline was a life member of the Silverleaf Chapter #464 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mary Pauline loved to cook, she loved to make arts and crafts, and listen to music. Most of all she loved to spend time with her loving family.

Mary Pauline Smith Phillips is survived by one daughter Patricia Anna Phillips of Grain Valley, MO and one son, Larry Lincoln Hume and his wife Gay Ellen Hume of Hutchinson, KS. Mary has one granddaughter, Lauri Hume.

Mary Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Ernest Franklin Smith, Isaac Wilbur Smith and Charles Newton Smith.

Memorials, In lieu of flowers, in her honor are suggested to the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints General Missionary Fund made payable to Blue Springs 1st Ward in care of Bishop Joshua Womack 1203 NW Cedar Lane, Grain Valley, MO 64029 or to a charity of your choice and they may be sent in care of Potts Chapel.
