CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Mary Agnes Miesner (nee Boorigie), Independence, KS passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home from natural causes. A Celebration of Life “Fish Fry” will be held, Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at the outside 4-H Building at Riverside Park in Independence, Kansas from 11:00am-2:00pm. A balloon release will take place at 2:00pm. Food, water and tea will be provided.

She was born July 21,1945 in Halstead, KS and was the daughter of two wonderful parents, Joe and Elizabeth Boorigie. She grew up in Independence and had two siblings; Colleen Edwards (Independence) and Bob & Delores Boorigie (Sycamore). She attended St. Andrews Elementary and Middle School and Independence Community College.

Mary married Steve Wilson in 1966 for 15 years and resided in Independence with their two daughters. In 1982, she married Ron Miesner and they continued to live in Independence for 39 more years.

The main priority in Mary’s life was to make sure everyone around her felt loved.  If you met her as a stranger, you left her as a friend. Her enjoyment of fish frys, bowling, and gambling kept her chatter box busy. However, her generous heart raising support for those who were battling alone kept her mind busy and her heart singing.

She was very blessed to have a patient, encouraging and always loving husband who supported her in all her endeavors. However, her entire family will miss her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Colleen, her daughter in-law Maggie Miesner and grandchildren Dakota Miesner, Joshua Michael Miesner, Lance Miesner, and Bo Miesner. She is survived by her loving husband, Ron Miesner, children: Kim Wilson (Kansas City, MO), Kristi Wilson (Topeka, KS), Aaron & Erin Miesner (Independence) and Josh & Mary Miesner (Shawnee, KS). Grandchildren: Gunnar & Shayla Miesner, Stepahine & Alex Mese, Crosby & Jake Whaley, Teryn & Jarin Irvin, Ian Miesner, Cole Wilson, Amber & Brett Woolard, Anna Miesner, Connor Frizell, four dogs, and nine great grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Community Mission for Improved Housing (CMIH), Dewlen Auxiliary VFW Post 1186, AWOL, and American Legion of Independence, KS Post 139.
