Mary Dabbs

Mary Marie Dabbs, 82, died Monday December 20, 2010 at her home . Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 am Monday December 27, 2010 at the Saint Johns Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Ben Mosley Officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel Independence. Visitation will be Sunday December 26, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 5 pm with the family receiving friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A memorial has been set up to the American Cancer Association and may be left at the Potts Chapel. Marie was born April 29, 1928, in Independence, Kansas the daughter of Noah and Annie Mothershed Turner. She attended Independence Public School System. Mary was a member of the Saint Johns Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Mary worked at the Heartland Cement Plant and retired in 1978 after 13 years. She worked in the power waste heat department and was the first female hourly employee for Heartland she was also member of the Local 109 union. Survivors are three sons Roger Bailey, Preston Edwards Jr., William H. Edwards all of Independence and one sister Annie Allen of Kansas City, Missouri. Six Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
