Havana

Marvin Joe Dunham passed away at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 25, 2021. The family greet friends at visitation on Monday, March 1st from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Potts Chapel in Independence. Funeral services will take place at Potts Chapel in Independence on Tuesday, March 2nd at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Havana Cemetery. Mask will be required.

Marvin Joe Dunham, born July 29, 1934 to Frank and Susie (Swaney) Dunham in rural Havana, Ks. Marvin was the 13th child of 13 children, seven brothers and five sisters. The family lived and grew up in the countryside of Havana, KS.

He attended country schools and was a member of the Wayside basketball team, graduating from Wayside High school in 1953. His mother Susie and he spent some time together traveling to California to visit family. On November 7, 1959 he married the love of his life, Mary Jo Coleman. It started from the first time she swung him around on the dance floor to the beat of a jukebox, he knew he had found his lifelong dance partner. They lived in the town of Havana for 23 years before moving to rural Havana countryside in 1982. As a couple they enjoyed fishing and hunting with their bird dogs and had many wonderful traveling hunts with friends. Marvin served in the armed forces for a brief time before going to work in the oilfield. He went to work for Citi Services, also known as Williams Brothers and retired from the company after 35 years of service. Out on the farm he enjoyed raising limousine cattle and spending time with family and friends.

Marvin was blessed with a multitude of extended family and was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Dunham.
