Marva Shafter

Marva A. Shafter, age 102, of Independence, Kansas died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date. Marva was born July 26, 1908 in Neodesha, Kansas to Joseph A. and Myrtle Mattie Lapshaw Hayes. She grew up in Caney, Kansas and attended schools in Caney, Kansas. On April 1, 1925 Marva married Dennis R. Shafter and the couple made their home in Caney, Kansas Marva cleaned houses for many years. Survivors include three daughters Fern Keith of Newton, Kansas Marva White of Caney, Kansas and Nancy McGee of Garnett, Kansas 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, parents and husband.
