Marlene Ikerd

Marlene Joan Ikerd, 73, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, KS. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. A native of Independence, Marlene was the daughter of the late John and Freda Tobaben. She attended Zion Lutheran School and was a 1956 graduate of Independence High School. Marlene recently retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture after 23 years. She is survived by a sister Jeanette Porter and the late Neal Porter of Worland, WY a brother, Don Tobaben Samantha, of Marietta, GA sons Frank Ikerd Valarie, Joplin, MO, Scott Ikerd Amy, Raleigh, NC and grandchildren Brittney Raybern, Lawrence, KS, Alec and Maxson Ikerd, Joplin, MO, Kendall and Caden Ikerd, Raleigh, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
