Marjorie Louise Simpson, age 97, of Caney, Kansas died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Harrisonville Cemetery with Mark Artherton officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Caney, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Marjorie L. Simpson was born June 5, 1913 in Caney, Kansas to George E. and Hannah Cobb Carinder. She grew up in Caney, Kansas and attended schools in Caney, Kansas. On October 30, 1933 Marjorie married Fred D. Simpson in Bartlesville, Oklahoma the couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. Fred preceded her in death. Marjorie worked for Fuqua Long Groceries, Winkler Pharmacy and Cowans Hardware. Marjorie received her GED in 1979. She was a past member of the Caney Nazarene Church and the First Southern Baptist Church where she taught numerous Sunday school classes over the years. Survivors include three daughters Helen Capps of Denton, Texas, Mary Jo Ketchum of Pueblo, Colorado and Marjorie Artherton of Caney, Kansas 13 grandchildren 23 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Jack Simpson, four sisters and two brothers.
