Marjorie Irene Hight, age 92 of Independence, Kansas passed away on December 31, 2020. Marjorie was born August 2, 1928 to Emmett and Imel (Debo) Goodwin in the Farm Ridge Community. She attended schools at Prairie and Sycamore before finishing at Independence High School.
On March 16, 1945 Margie married Eugene Hight the son of Bertha & Leslie Hight of Sycamore, Kansas. Margie and Gene had two daughters Connie and Janice. The couple later divorced in 1961 but they remained great friends.
Margie worked at the Glenwood Nursing Home before going to ACC where she would later retire. Margie enjoved her retirement for several years but returned to the workforce where she worked as a care giver until she was in her 80’s. Margie was loved by many some of which was friends from Penn Terrrace where she resided for 12 years.
Survivors include two daughters Connie & Archie Vannoster of Independence; Janice & David Thompson of Elk City, Kansas; two grandchildren Leslie Metcalf of Elk City and Patricia & Richard Wooten of Neodesha, Kansas; four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emmett & Imel Goodwin; siblings Evelyn Denton, Irma Lessman, Alfred Goodwin and Grandson Jacob Trammel.
She was baptized as a child and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.
The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at the Potts Funeral Home.
