Marianne S. Meade, 90, of Independence, Kansas died Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Regal Estate of Glenwood Nursing Home in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday July 29, 2013 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence with the Reverend John Wilson of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Inurnment will follow under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, Kansas and contributions may be left at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Marianne was born December 19, 1922 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Charles W. and Elsie J. Cook Studt. She grew up in Independence and graduated from the Independence School System. She then attended for two years Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Marianne then attended Pittsburg State University from which she received her Bachelors Degree. Marianne in 1944 was united in marriage to Marion Postlethwaite and they were later divorced. She later married George Meade and he preceded her in death. Marianne was a Teacher and taught in Havana and Cherryvale, Kansas. She retired from teaching in Picacho, Arizona after teaching twenty two years. She was a member of the PEO Club for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Jane and husband Richard Wilson of Independence, Ks. three grandchildren, Rebecca and Sean Good of Dora Alabama and great grandchildren Cameron and Mikailah Good, grandson Micheal and Jill Walker of Greer, South Carolina and great grandson Braden Walker, grandson David Wilson of Independence, Kansas. Marianne was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Postlethwaite and David Postlethwaite.
