MARGE PHINNEY
Our heavenly father above called home our mother Marguerite "Marge" Phinney, 83, of Caney, Kansas, on January 26, 2015 from the St John's Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was a wonderful mom and loving grandmother whom her grandchildren referred to as "Granny Goose" and "MeMaw". Even though she will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew her, we take great comfort in knowing she was not by herself, having loved ones waiting to greet her at Heaven's gate.
Marguerite Jane DeFouw was born June 18, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the fourth of six children to Henry DeFouw and Nettie Irene (Howard) DeFouw. Marguerite grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin. She attended schools there, graduating High School in 1948. On March 17, 1951, she was united into marriage to James R. Phinney in Milwaukee. To this union was born five children, and later on she adopted another daughter.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen DeFouw-Cornell of Scottsdale, AZ, and Alyce Weiss and husband Russ of West Allis, WI; her five daughters, Patricia Edens and husband Howard 'Doc' of Copan, OK, Maureen Phinney of Chula Vista, CA, Colleen Melton and husband Jay of Crandall, TX, Michelle Covey of Caney, Irene Trollope and husband Jon of Caney; seven much-loved grandchildren: Kayla McConnell, James "Jimmy' Edens, Tyron Bradley, Michael Bradley, Victoria 'Tori' Trollope, Zane Trollope, Tanner Trollope; along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and two special daughters: Julie Gorby of Caney, and Janice Madden of Hemet, CA.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael J. Phinney, three brothers - Harry, Harold, and Howard DeFouw, son-in-law Robert J. Covey, grandchildren Kevin Melton, Erica Melton, Willow Trollope, and Cole Trollope.
Cremation has taken placed under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be announced at a later date.
The family of Marge Phinney wish to express their sincere and warmest gratitude for all of the thoughtful expressions of support and especially for the prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for caring.
