Margie Harris

Margie B. Harris, age 84, of Independence, Kansas died Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Regal Estates in Independence, Kansas. She had been in failing health. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Steve Butler officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Margie was born June 29, 1925 to Aaron and Hattie Cooper in Elgin, Kansas. She attended grade school in Elgin, Kansas and high school in Chautauqua, Kansas. In 1954 Margie married T.J. Harris in Caney, Kansas at the Baptist Church. He preceded her in death in 1978. Margie attended the Assembly of God Church in Cherryvale, Kansas, for many years where she made many wonderful friends. She was always the pastors baby sitter, if they had children. Margie worked for various manufacturing companies in the area. She retired when H.D. Lee closed. She cared for older people that she loved for several years. Survivors include two children Margie Dixon of Independence, Kansas and Wayne Jones of Cherryvale, Kansas; four grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She loved spending time outdoors, playing with her grandchildren, building fires in the woods for hotdog and marshmallow roasts. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was loving, kind thoughtful and fun. She will be greatly missed.
