Margaret Peggy A. Cathcart, 82, of Independence, Kansas died Sunday April 28, 2013 at her daughters home in North Carolina. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Independence, Kansas with Father Andrew Heiman officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery, Rural Independence, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 with Reciting of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to the St. Andrew Catholic School and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Peggy was born November 10, 1930 in Britton, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Terrence and Beatrice Marcella Hallerman Hughes. She grew up in Britton, Oklahoma and graduated from the John Carroll School System. Peggy then attended the Saint Anthonys School of Nursing and received her Diploma in Nursing. On August 4, 1951 Peggy Hughes was united in marriage to Levi T. LT Cathcart in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and the couple made their home in Borger, Texas and Waco, Texas, Bartlesville, Oklahoma then moving to Independence, Kansas. Levi T. LT preceded Peggy in death in 1995. Peggy worked as a Nurse for the Cherryvale Nursing Home in Cherryvale, Kansas. She also worked for the Colonial Lodge and Colonial Terrace Nursing Homes as well as the Glenwood Nursing Home, all in Independence, Kansas. Peggy was a member of the Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include one son, James A. Cathcart of Littleton, Colorado six daughters, Christine L. Cathcart of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gwen M. Parrett and Greta S. Gilstrap both of Independence, Kansas, Jean C. Cathcart of Daleville, Virginia, Patricia L. Foulk of La Valle, Wisconsin and Anita A. Havener of Olathe, Kansas twelve grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
