M. Lucile Vining, 87, of Independence, Kansas died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at her residence. A Celebration of life service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Cherryvale Church of Christ with Reverend Stan Bryan, officiating. Private family interment will take place at Pratt Cemetery. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Bayfield Church of Christ and may be left at Potts Chapel or mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas 67301. Margaret Lucile Vining was born August 25, 1924 at Lockney, Texas the daughter of Ezra Lee Murphy and Ruth Baumgartner Murphy. She grew up and attended schools near Pleasant View, Colorado and graduated from high school in Plainview, Texas. She also received her Bachelor of Home Economics degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She then attended Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado receiving her post graduate library degree. On December 22, 1948 at Cortez, Colorado she was united in marriage to Efton Howard Vining and he survives at the home. She lived in Pleasant View, Colorado until 1951 when they moved to Farmington New Mexico and later to Ignacio, Colorado in 1977. For several years she would spend winters in Independence, Kansas and made her home with her daughter and son in law Margaret and Marc Hoffmeister. Lucile was a school teacher, seamstress, home economist, librarian and homemaker though out her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Cherryvale and also the Church of Christ in Bayfield, Colorado. Survivors include husband Howard of the home, one son, David Vining of Ignacio, Colorado, two daughters, Eileen Farnsworth of Selma, Alabama, Margaret Hoffmeister of Independence, Kansas, eleven grandchildren, Amanda Farnsworth, Lee Farnsworth, Promise Farnsworth, Morgan Farnsworth, Andy Vining, Devin Vining, Sarah Vining, Jamie Vining, Cole Hoffmeister, Lane Hoffmeister, and Heath Hoffmeister. She was preceded in death by one son, Lee Vining.
