Louise Brothers, 95, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at her home. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale with Reverend Susan Brown, officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 12 Noon until 8 P.M. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6 P.M. until 7P.M. at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. In lieu of flowers Louise suggested memorial remembrances be made to the Cherryvale Alumni Scholarship Fund and they may be left at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale or mailed to P.O. Box 801 Independence, Kansas, 67301. Louise Brothers was born December 18, 1915 at Liberty, Kansas the daughter of Wilson Eikenberry and Josephine Jane Van Cleave Eikenberry. She grew up in and attended schools in the Liberty and Cherryvale communities and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1932. On September 26, 1940 at Sedan, Kansas Louise was united in marriage to Ernest Virgil Brothers and he preceded her in death July 11, 1977. She was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Cherryvale Womens Civic Club. At her age of 95 Louise was participating in a writing course from Independence Community College and was looking forward to the upcoming computer class. Survivors include one son, Ernest Dob W. Brothers and his wife Arlene of rural Cherryvale, Kansas one daughter, Betty Spencer and her husband Jerry of Kansas City, Missouri two brothers, Reed Eikenberry of Cherryvale, Kansas, Kenneth Eikenberry of Leoti, Kansas 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Jane L. McNickle, grandson Scott McNickle, and two brothers Bob and Eldon Eikenberry.
