Louis Wilkins

Louis Edward Wilkins, age 96, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Regal Estates in Cherryvale, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Russell Anderson of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Cherryvale High School Athletic Department and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel. Louis was born March 16, 1912 in Agra, Oklahoma to Edward and Mary Ternes Wilkins. He grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and graduated from the Cherryvale High School. On June 26, 1939 Louis married Helen Botts in Arkansas. The couple made their home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Helen preceded him in death on March 31, 2006. Louis was a retired farmer and a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters Patricia L. Tuggle and Marilyn M. Jones both of Cherryvale, Kansas; one sister Nadine Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
