Louis Earl Roper, age 71 of Flint, Texas, Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas with the Rev. Ron Byrd officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Fawn Creek Cemetery in Tyro, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with family receiving friends. The family has suggested memorials to the Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701 or the American Cancer Society. Mr. Roper passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 5, 1940 in Montgomery County, Kansas to the late Frank and Violet Roper. He was retired from the petroleum business as a mud engineer. Mr. Roper was an avid bowler and a member of the University Christian Church. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Lavella Roper of Flint one son and daughterinlaw, Wayne and Karen Roper and their children, Ashley, Kendall and his fianc, Brittany Belford and Lyndsay of Caney, Kansas two daughters Denise and her husband Gary Cannady and their son J.J. Ashford of Canton, Marsha and her husband, Doug McCoy and their children, Chad and his fianc Ashley Paddie, Ashley, and Brandon of Tyler one great granddaughter, Bailey McCoy two brother, Virgil Bud and wife Donna Roper and Everett John and wife, Dee Roper all of Caney, Ks, and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary Casketbearers will be his four grandsons, Kendall Roper, J.J. Ashford, Chad and Brandon McCoy.
