Lorraine Hart

Lorraine Frances Hart, age 86, of Cherryvale passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at her home in rural Cherryvale, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the New Hope Christian Church, 908 E. 4th St. Cherryvale, Kansas, with the Reverend Gerald Zuck officiating, burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery, north of Parsons, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday December 28, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Hospice Care of Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Lorraine was born in Parsons, Kansas on April 30, 1925, the daughter of Maurice and Faye Wells Dorman. She graduated from the Erie High School. She was united in marriage to Howard Lee Hart on November 20, 1941 at Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 10, 2000. She was a primarily a homemaker while raising their family, then received her Practical Nursing Diploma from Neosho County Junior College in 1979, and pursued a career with Mercy Hospital in Independence until her retirement. Lorraine enjoyed her rural home where they raised cattle, dogs and chickens. Howard and Lorraine enjoyed horseback riding a great deal and spent many weekends trial riding with friends and family. Lorraine was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Cherryvale. Lorraine is survived by two daughters, Judy Wheeler and her husband Edward of Parsons, Kansas Rita Cloke and her husband Jim of Thayer, Kansas one son Larry Hart and his wife Dana of Independence, Kansas numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
