Lloyd Jerome Watts

Lloyd Jerome Watts, born July 22, 1957, in Independence, Kansas to Sally and the late Jerome Watts, passed away on June 20, 2023, in Independence, Kansas.

On June 4, 1997, Lloyd and Emma Tucker snuck away into the night to join their two families on June 5th. Lloyd was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to any who met him. He tinkered in his garage on a regular basis preparing his Mustang for the races and his Ranger for the icy winters. Enjoyed rides on his Harley and boxing matches with his dog, Sheba, in the living room.

Lloyd quickly turned acquaintances into friends at every job site he worked on. He was a skilled laborer who worked at M-E-C in Neodesha for 28 years, ParMac for 3 years, and gained his CDL in 2013 to drive for his cousin, the late Bill Warner, for several years until 2018 when he accepted a position with Montgomery County. The family is especially grateful for the kindness, compassion, and care Lloyd’s coworkers showed him during his service with the county from the day he started to the day of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Herman Watts.

Lloyd’s memory will carry on with his mother Sally Watts of Cherryvale, KS, wife Emma, and brother Kyle of Independence, KS, daughters Sheila (Steve) Strebler of Dittmer, MO, Shawna Nelson of Glassgow, KY, Tasha England of Pryor, OK, grandchildren Kayrin, Johanna, Blake, Aidan, Tyler, McKaili, Megan, and great-granddaughter Mallory.

The family has entrusted final arrangements with Potts Chapel. Visitation for Lloyd will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Potts Chapel with the family receiving visitors from 5 – 7 PM.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at Pratt Cemetery at 10:00 am, Thursday, followed by a light luncheon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Independence.
