Linda Scott

Linda Sue (Nicholas) Scott, 70, of Independence, Kansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Linda Sue (Nicholas) Scott was born February 10, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Thomas and Lulavown (Shawver) Nicholas. Linda was raised in Cedar Vale, Kansas, where she graduated from high school as the valedictorian in 1964. She attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas in 1965.
Linda was united in marriage to Dennis E. Scott on August 13, 1966 in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Linda and Dennis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family this past summer.
Linda returned to college at Pittsburg State University after her boys were all in school. She graduated with a degree in education and taught for USD 446 at Elk City and Independence. Linda continued her education by obtaining a Masters degree at Pittsburg State University.
After retirement, Linda enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and being with family. She loved scrapbooking, quilting, and volunteering at Zion Lutheran School.
In 2004, Linda was blessed to be reacquainted with her birthmother, Irene Unruh and her family of Garden City, Kansas.
Linda was a beloved wife, mother, and Nana to all her family. She will always be remembered for her strong faith, positive influence, and love shown to others. She lived her life according to Galation 5:22: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control."
Linda is survived by her husband, Dennis, of the home, three sons; Dean Scott, of Olathe, Ks; David Scott and wife Rebecca of McPherson, Ks.; and Darin Scott and wife Cari of Independence, Ks. Linda was grandmother and (Nana) to Jacob and Lindsay Scott of Neodesha, Ks., Abigail and Jolee Scott of Independence, KS, Sheridan and Jonah Scott of McPherson, Ks., and great-grandmother of Harper Scott of Neodesha, Ks.
Linda was proceeded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held in Cedar Vale, Ks. on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 at 2:00pm under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence, Ks.
