Linda L. Barnes age 66, of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, May 08, 2010 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Steve Butler of the Community Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Linda was born April 30, 1944 in Independence, Kansas to Leland and Margie McRoberts Bennett. She grew up in Independence, Kansas and attended schools there. On October 7, 1962 Linda married Orville Skeen and the couple later divorced. Linda was a homemaker. On October 22, 1989 Linda married Kenneth Barnes in Independence, Kansas where they made their home. Survivors include husband Kenneth of the home five children Tonya husband Glen Lewis of Cherryvale, Kansas, Phillip Skeen of Beattie, Kansas, Roger and wife Gloria of Beattie, Kansas, Troy and wife Charity Skeen, Salem, Oregon and Kathy and husband James Lewis of Independence, Kansas 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren three brothers Jerry Bennett, John Bennett and Charles Bennett.
