Lewis Duncan Ellis, age 86, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Cherryvale Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Cherryvale, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Cherryvale Christian Church with the Reverend Andy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Cherryvale Christian Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Lewis was born March 26, 1924 in Coyville, Kansas to John Jack and Blanche Lewis Ellis. He grew up in Fredonia and Cherryvale, Kansas. On February 8, 1949 Lewis married Mabel I. Pilkington and the couple made their home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Mabel preceded him in death. Lewis worked as a mechanic at Moss Motors and retired from Hasketts Peddlar in Parsons, Kansas. He was a member of the Cherryvale Christian Church. Survivors include one daughter Marvelle Ellis of Cherryvale, Kansas two sons Duncan Ellis of Independence, Kansas and John Ellis of Cherryvale, Kansas two brothers Gerald and Leon Ellis both of Cherryvale, Kansas 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
